How to choose the right clothing and shoe size on American websites

Shopping at US online stores can be enjoyable and rewarding, but many people run into difficulties due to differences in clothing and shoe sizing systems. How to determine the correct American clothing and shoe size?

Measure your waist, hips, and chest
To buy clothing in the right size, you need to know your chest, waist, and hip circumferences. Measure these on yourself or your loved ones to make sure the size fits. For children's clothing, knowing the child's height and weight is sufficient.
Measure your height
This is important for both children and adults.

P or WP — for petite women (up to 160 cm);
T or WT — for tall women (from 174 cm).

American sizing system
Sizes most often go in ascending order: from 4 USA — small, to 14 USA — large.
Quick size estimation "at a glance"

Women's American size: 4 USA ➞ 42 RU.
Men's American size: 40 USA ➞ 44 RU.

The "minus one" rule
Clothing with letter designations (S, M, L) often runs large. For example, if your size is M, it's better to choose S in American stores.
Runs small or oversized
