How do I find the right US clothing and shoe size?

A few tips to help you nail your US size

1.Measure your waist, hips, and chest

For US clothing, you need three measurements: chest, waist, and hips. For kids, height and weight usually do the trick.

2.Measure height for adults too

This matters most when your height is non-standard.
P or WP means petite women up to 160 cm.
T or WT means tall women from 174 cm.

3.From small to large

US adult clothing sizes typically use even numbers in ascending order. US 4 is small, US 14 is large.

4.Quick size estimate

To convert a women's US size to a Russian size, subtract 38.
US 4 → RU 42
For men's sizes, subtract 40.
US 4 → RU 44

5.The minus-one rule

Letter sizes like S, M, and L often run a size larger than you'd expect. If you usually wear M, try S at a US store.

6.Runs small or oversized

Check the store's size chart and reviews. Look for terms like Fit Small, Fit Normal, and Fit Oversize.

7.Check what's already in your closet

Look at the labels on clothes and shoes you already own. You may spot a US size that matches your usual size.
